This piece is part of the Barakah Archive Series, a small collection of one-of-a-kind garments created from reclaimed textiles connected to community history.
The patchwork backs incorporate:
• unused fabrics originally cut for hijabi-friendly masks during the pandemic
• reclaimed cotton textiles from the Barakah Community Closet
• heritage fabrics including African cotton prints
• reclaimed household and designer textiles
Each garment required many hours of patchwork construction and contains dozens of individual fabric pieces.
One-of-a-kind patchwork garments created from reclaimed materials are often priced as collector pieces in the $800–$1500 range, particularly when the textiles cannot be reproduced.
Because these pieces are part of a small experimental studio series and created from fabrics connected to our community work, they are being offered at an intentionally accessible price.

Fabric Story
This extraordinary Power Silhouette Abaya is crafted from reclaimed American denim with a one-of-a-kind patchwork back made entirely from rescued textiles. The front of the garment features durable, structured denim reclaimed from an upcycled Tommy Hilfiger duvet cover, giving the piece both substance and a soft lived-in character.
The back panel is a labor-intensive patchwork composition made from unused hijabi-friendly face mask fabrics that were cut during the pandemic but never sewn when the world reopened. These fabrics have been thoughtfully repurposed into a striking textile mosaic, preserving their history while transforming them into something new.
Interwoven into the patchwork are additional reclaimed cottons and select fabrics sourced through the Barakah Community Closet, including African cotton prints that bring subtle cultural richness and visual depth to the garment.

Care Instructions
Hand wash cold (or use a delicate cycle inside a netted bag). Lay flat or hang to dry. May be tumble dried on low delicate heat for a brief 10 minutes to refresh if needed.
