A tiny pair of donated toddler denim shorts has been transformed into The Watermelon Resistance—a one-of-a-kind convertible bag carrying a quiet but unmistakable expression of Palestinian solidarity.

The original waistband, button, belt loops and pockets remain intact, preserving the personality of the jeans while giving them an entirely new purpose. Inside, the bag is fully lined in a vivid red watermelon print—an enduring symbol of Palestinian identity, resilience and resistance.
The detachable black-and-white striped strap adds a bold graphic contrast and adjusts for multiple ways of wearing. Style it across the body, over the shoulder or shorten the strap to carry it closer to the waist. The original front and back pockets remain functional, giving this small bag far more usable storage than its playful proportions suggest.
Patchwork details on the denim celebrate the marks, wear and previous life of the original garment rather than hiding them. Every irregularity is part of the story.
Made slowly and intentionally from textiles that had already lived one life, this is wearable art with something to say.
Only one was made.
